For many reasons, Western Red Cedar is the choice for external wood claddings and structures. Western Red Cedar has one of the longest life spans of any softwood. It is free from pitch and its heartwood has natural decay resistance. Its low density gives it an insulation value superior to most other species. Light weight, easy to work, easy to finish, possessing outstanding dimensional stability, Western Red Cedar is a preferred wood for nearly all purposes where attractive appearance or resistance to weather is important. Nanoscale UV absorbers offer unique benefits in protecting coatings and coated substrates from being degraded by UV radiation. The small size of the particles makes it possible to offer high protection without affecting the transparency of the impregnation. Nanoscale solutions are able to concentrate more active substance in a smaller volume of liquid. It is possible to use less product to archive better durability and the products are VOC free and water based. The first water based primer with UV absorber - Lignol® Sun Care For additional protection of the Western Red Cedar, Nanovations is offering the first water based primer which contains a UV absorber. The use of such protection in a primer has significant benefits: Protects wood from a wider range of UV radiation. Significant slowing of the darkening of lighter woods like Western Red Cedar.
